REP Responsive Component
The Advancing a Healthier Wisconsin Endowment (AHW) has released a competitive Request for Applications (RFA) through the Research and Education Program’s Responsive component. The Responsive component aims to support collaborative, faculty-initiated research that aligns with MCW’s research focus areas, below, and has strong changemaking potential. The AHW Endowment anticipates funding approximately five meritorious awards through this RFA. Individual awards will be granted for up to a total of $200,000 over a two-year period.
- Concussion & Traumatic Brain Injury
- Diabetes & Obesity
- Inflammation & Immunology
- Neurodegeneration and Nervous System Aging
- Personalized Medicine
- Population Science
- Regenerative Medicine
*Please note: work in all nine focus areas will be accepted. However, due to major, ongoing investments in Cancer and Cardiovascular, if these areas are selected as a focus of the proposed work, preference will be given to those applications that address a second priority area.
This will be the final RFA released through the AHW Endowment's 2014-2018 Five-Year Plan. Future RFAs offered through the AHW REP are subject to change.
What is Changemaking?
Changemaking is the potential of a project to have a significant impact on improving the health of Wisconsin communities. Changemaking may occur as a direct result of the proposed research (immediate improvement to human health), or as a result of longer-term research plans (eventual improvement to human health that could not occur without important advancements in the scientific field).
Full-time or full professional effort MCW faculty members within the School of Medicine are eligible to apply for this opportunity. Applications must be collaborative and involve the PI and at least one Co-I.
The application process begins with the submission of a Letter of Intent (LOI), which is due by 5pm CST on Monday, April 2, 2018. Application materials are now available, below. Following the review period, selected applicants will be invited to submit full proposal applications. Funded work will begin on January 1, 2019. Visit the Responsive Component Frequently Asked Questions page for more information.
