Summary: The first round in a series of such surveys, the NHES consists of information on a range of health topics, collected through interviews and physical exams. The NHES was conducted on a nationwide probability sample weighted to reflect the U.S. noninstitutionalized civilian population at the midpoint of the survey. The NHES is organized into files based on subject matter. The following files are available through the EDSC: demographic characteristics, dental findings, diabetes, cardiovascular, physical measurements, psychological distress, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis, and vision.
