Laura Cassidy received an MS in Biostatistics and a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh, Graduate School of Public Health. She was previously an Assistant Professor of Biostatistics at the University of Pittsburgh and is currently a Professor in the Institute for Health and Equity, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Surgery. Her research interests include pediatric surgical outcomes, trauma, registry development in addition to identification and evaluation of risk factors and treatment of pediatric patients. She is also the Director of the PhD Program in Public and Community Health.

Tom Chelius received his MS in Mathematics from Marquette University and a MS in Biostatistics from the Medical College of Wisconsin. He has worked on various research projects including hypertension in inner-city African-Americans, the role of hospital characteristics in predicting lymphedema in breast cancer patients, and the Women's Health Initiative. He has also served as coordinator for the Clinical Research Scholars Program, a career development program for junior faculty members who wish to become independently funded investigators.
