Both hospice and palliative care focus on helping a person be comfortable by addressing issues causing physical or emotional pain or suffering. Hospice care is for patients with a terminal diagnosis who are no longer seeking curative treatment. There currently are more than 5,000 health care professionals involved in hospice care, and the number continues to grow. **

Books and Journals:
The MCW Libraries have many books and journals on palliative care, hospice care, and the related issues of grief and bereavement available in print and electronic versions.

Journal Articles:
A PubMed (MEDLINE) search retrieves article citations on all aspects involving palliative and hospice care. You may also search CINAHL for articles in nursing and allied health disciplines. Try using keywords in PubMed or CINAHL such as:
