Call all skaters - Now you can Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer!

Feb. 27, 2018 MCW News - Froedtert & the Medical College of Wisconsin is looking for skaters of all levels to participate in the new Wisconsin Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Event on Sunday, April 8. If you glide across the ice like an Olympian or wobble your way around the rink, there is a place for you. The MCW Cancer Center recently was named one of three recipients for this Wisconsin fundraiser.

The Wisconsin Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Event is a celebration of those who have beat cancer as well as support for those fighting cancer. It is being hosted by the Wisconsin Ice Arena Managers Association in partnership with the Scott CARES Foundation, which was organized by Olympic Champion Scott Hamilton to support cancer research after his mother’s diagnosis.

The skate-a-thon will take place from 1:15-3:15 p.m. at the Kettle Moraine Ice Rink, located at 2230 S. Main Street in West Bend. Register as a member of the Kettle Moraine Ice Rink team. Registration is $25 and includes a free tee shirt.

Members of the Kettle Moraine Ice Center who register online and bring their tee shirt to the event will have their rink and skate rental fees waived. Once you join the team, you can begin collecting pledges from friends and family members to help raise funds to Elimin8 Cancer! The Kettle Moraine Ice Rink is owned and operated by the non-profit Washington County Youth Hockey Association.

If you missed your call from the Olympics this year, an even bigger prize is within your reach – life-saving cancer research!
