There are several strategies in cancer prevention. The major ones include risk management, chemoprevention, and immunoprevention. The risk management is through reduction of exposure to environmental hazardous factors, such as asbestos, tobacco, and alcohol. In order to reduce the risk of, or delay the development or recurrence of cancer, chemoprevention is the use of drugs, vitamins, or other agents; and, immunoprevention is an approach to use vaccines, antibodies, and immune modulators. My research focus is using human cancer models in pre-clinical setting to study the efficacy of drugs and/or vaccines in cancer prevention.
