The Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine is a dedicated community of compassionate, expert, inspired, professional clinicians, academicians, staff, and trainees committed to improving the lives of persons affected by psychiatric diseases, concurrent disorders, behavior-related illnesses, and social-environmental conditions impeding mental health.

CAIR researcher receives NIH grant to study HIV vulnerability of young African American men

Aug. 9 - Katherine G. Quinn, PhD, assistant professor of psychiatry and behavioral medicine in the Center for AIDS Intervention Research (CAIR), has received a four-year, $527,000 K01 Career Development Research Award from the National Institute of Mental Health for her project, “The Effects of Intersecting Stigmas on PrEP Outcomes for Young Black MSM.”

CAIR, Russian researchers awarded grants from respective countries to collaborate on HIV efforts

July 12 - Yuri A. Amirkhanian, PhD, and Jeffrey A. Kelly, PhD, both professors of psychiatry and behavioral medicine in the MCW Center for AIDS Intervention Research (CAIR), were awarded a three-year grant under the US/Russia Bilateral Research Partnership on the Prevention and Treatment of HIV/AIDS initiative of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of AIDS Research. The project is entitled, Social Network Intervention to Engage Community PLH to Enter HIV Medical Care.
