Dr. Christopher R. Takala joined the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin in August 2016. After receiving his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2011, he completed his residency in adult psychiatry at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where he was recognized as the Resident Teacher of the Year. He continued his fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry there, serving as chief fellow in his final year. Dr. Takala has interests in consult-liaison psychiatry, collaborative care, clinical research, and resident/fellow education. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and has participated in the Telepsychiatry Committee.
Dr. Takala has performed clinical research within a broad array of mental health topics. Dr. Takala is board certified in general psychiatry and will be sitting for his child and adolescent psychiatry boards in the Fall of 2016. Dr. Takala sees patients through consultation work at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin as well as within the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
