Public Safety is committed to making its campus a safe place to work and learn for its more than 800 medical and 250 graduate students and approximately 4,600 faculty and staff.
Public Safety is comprised of three core sub-groups:
Our uniformed officers in Protective Services work to maintain a safe and secure environment for our employees and students to work and study in. We actively patrol our campus buildings and grounds 24/7 and staff the Public Safety Center in H1820. We will coordinate with the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office for additional support when necessary. For a Safety Escort, call 955-8295 anytime.
Physical Risk is responsible for protecting the internal resources and infrastructure of the College through utilization of security risk management principles. This includes managing the access control systems and issuance/control of hard keys. The Physical and Technical Security group also maintains an extensive system of security cameras on campus.
Emergency Planning is responsible for the college-wide Emergency Organization Plan (EOP) and associated evacuation drills. Auxiliary Services consists of all parking functions including event planning, visitor lot reservations requests, etc.
Public Safety strives to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with all area public sector agencies including the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), the City of Wauwatosa Police Department (WPD), City of Wauwatosa Fire Department (WFD) and the various local field offices of state and federal law enforcement agencies.
Public Safety at MCW is committed to providing the safest environment possible for work and study. Part of that commitment involves providing information about campus safety to current as well as prospective students and employees. The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act requires that all institutions of higher learning that participate in federal student aid programs disclose campus crime statistics and security policies.
