My research interests are the bioinformatics analyses of all types of the next generation sequencing (NGS) data from cancer studies, such as the NGS data from the bulk DNA/RNA samples sequencing, and the NGS data from the single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq), T/B Cell Receptor sequencing (TCRseq/ BCRseq), and the single-cell TCR/BCR sequencing (scTCRseq/scBCRseq) etc. In recent years, cancer immunotherapy has become the research hotspot in the field. By conducting NGS analyses, I will explore the important yet unresolved scientific questions such as i) How do the different types of drugs (chemoprevention/chemotherapy drugs, immune checkpoint inhibitors, tumor neoantigen vaccines etc) interact with the immune systems and what consequences will such interactions have on the efficacy of the corresponding treatment? ii) Which specific immune cell subpopulations (either known or unrecognized) are involved in conferring the response or resistance to different treatment? iii) Can specific gene expression signatures be identified to predict the outcomes of cancer immunoprevention or immunotherapy? Successful answering the above questions will greatly deepen our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the outcomes of cancer immunotherapy. My ultimate goal is to significantly promote cancer prevention and therapy by identifying novel drug targets for preclinical experiments and clinical trials.
