Interests and Background
Ellen M. Schumann, MD, MS, FAAP has lived and practiced in the greater Wausau, WI area since 1984.
Dr. Schumann’s 30-year clinical career spans small and large physician-owned multi-specialty group clinics as well as community and critical access hospitals. She has worked as a pediatric hospitalist. She has over 20 years of experience in various leadership roles in both clinic and hospital settings.
She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society and Sigma Beta Delta International Honor Society for Business, Management and Administration.
She serves in her church communities as a lector, cantor, and Eucharistic minister. She is president of Jubilee House, a Catholic worker house in Wausau, and was a founding member of the planning committee of the Marathon County Early Years Coalition. She is married and has 2 adult sons. In her spare time she enjoys reading, pickleball, cooking, movies, and spending time at the lake.
Honors and Awards
Dr. Schumann was named a Woman of Vision by the Wausau YWCA in 2009. The Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation honored her as a Champion in Women’s Health in 2011. In 2016, she received a Special Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics for her work in EHDI (Early Hearing Detection & Intervention).
