Why did you choose to pursue a residency?
As soon as I learned that residency was a thing, I knew I wanted to do it. Residency training offers the ability to grow as a new pharmacist while still getting to experience and try new things that might not be able to if they were to go directly into the workforce.
What attracted you to MCW's PGY1 Community-Based Pharmacy Residency Program?
First and foremost, they offer a great amount of academic experience along with a teaching certificate, which is something I really wanted out of residency. I genuinely enjoyed my APPE rotations in both community and ambulatory settings and felt that the position at Good Value Pharmacy matched well with my personal interests and values and had a feel similar to those experiences that I really enjoyed the most.
What are your professional interests?
I am extremely interested in precepting and mentoring pharmacy students and look forward to gaining experience in those roles. I have a general interest in psychology/behavioral health pharmacy, as well, and am hoping to be able to pursue projects in those areas during residency.
What are your hobbies?
I love animals, especially my dog – I enjoy bird watching at my home feeder system and even seeing random creatures on my daily walks with my dog. I also really enjoy running – prior to pharmacy school, I ran many races between 5k to full marathon distances. A lofty dream of mine is to qualify for the Boston Marathon one day!
What are your favorite things to do in Milwaukee?
Milwaukee County has great trails – I love to walk my dog or go for a run on the trails because you won’t need to stop for traffic and can appreciate a little bit more of nature. I also really love to eat, so trying out new restaurants is always a favorite thing of mine to do no matter where I am.
