Journal Citation Reports (JCR) | MCW Libraries Featured Resource

Clarivate released the 2021 update to its annual Journal Citation Reports (JCR) this summer. JCR is a resource that allows you to evaluate and compare journals using citation data drawn from 20,000 scholarly and technical journals in virtually all scientific fields, and JCR‘s most popular metric is the Journal Impact Factors (JIF).

New features on the JCR platform include:

  • Journal Citation Indicator (JCI): This new metric provides a normalized journal-level metric that allows for easy comparison of journals across disciplines. A metric of 1.0 means that journal articles were cited on average the same as other journals in that category. A JCI number higher than 1.0 means that the journal citation performance is better than average. Learn more about JCI.
  • Updated user interface: The revamped user interface features an improved search box, and interactive graphics that show data over time.
