Biography

I received my PhD in neuroscience with Dr. Zsuzsanna Fabry at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I studied how the immune system influences neuroinflammation after stroke and autoimmune disease. Then, I completed my first post-doc with Dr. Zena Vexler at the University of California-San-Francisco, where I focused on understanding how infection and stroke affect the neonatal and childhood brain.

I joined the Drobyski lab as a post-doc in January 2021. Here, my goal has been to elucidate organ-specific immunological mechanisms of graft versus host disease (GVHD), particularly within the lower GI tract. Accumulating research has identified the GI tract to be uniquely susceptible to inflammation and uniquely responsible for GVHD-mediated mortality. Our strategy is to unveil the mechanisms for non-redundant cytokine networks responsible for mediating allogeneic immune responses. We hope this research will help devise novel therapeutic strategies clinically to minimize host inflammation and optimize transplant success in GVHD patients.
