Joyce Sanchez, MD, FACP, joined the Medical College of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2017 and is director of the Travel Clinic. She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she stayed to complete her internal medicine residency. She received clinical training in infectious diseases at Stanford University and completed her fellowship at the University of Minnesota. She is board certified in Infectious Diseases and Internal Medicine, and received her Certificate of Knowledge in Travel Medicine.

Dr. Sanchez began her career after fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in 2014, where she served as Focus Group Chair of the Infectious Diseases Clinic, was a member of the Infectious Diseases Fellowship Education, and Internal Medicine Residency Selection Committees. In 2015 she received the “Recognition for Excellence in Clinical Teaching” award by the Internal Medicine Residency Program. She has spoken at several national and international platforms, including the American College of Physicians, on infectious disease topics.

Dr. Sanchez’s interests include travel and tropical medicine, infections in immunocompromised hosts, and medical education. As a product of a military upbringing, she is passionate about international travel. She enjoys spending time with her family including her surgeon husband and two children.
