Hobbies & interests: I have maintained an active lifestyle throughout medical school – including lifting weights, biking, running, and playing basketball. During medical school, I played in a recreational basketball league and completed two triathlons. I enjoy watching sports as much as I enjoy playing them, especially the NFL, NBA, and college sports. I also enjoy traveling – either to new countries to explore new culture and cuisine or to local national parks to hike and camp.

Why I chose MCW: I chose MCW for the relatable and down to earth co-residents and faculty. The hospital is a major referral center and a busy level 1 trauma center, offering a really well-rounded training experience. I wanted to be confident in my surgical skills leaving residency, and this program has delivered.

What MCW has to offer a candidate: As I said above, the operative training is excellent. The expectation to be involved in the operative room starts intern year. The department is built around the residency program, meaning the training is always a priority. It offers great training in every subspecialty. The camaraderie between classes is healthy and not hierarchical.

What I like about living in Milwaukee: Milwaukee has been a surprisingly fun city to live in. It's truly a revitalized mid-sized city, with an abundance of restaurants and activities without the headache of traffic and out-of-control prices. The summers in MKE are truly awesome.
