Why I chose MCW: I rotated at MCW as a fourth year medical student, and I could tell very early on in my rotation that this program provided the perfect fit. I was incredibly impressed by the early, hands-on surgical experience the residents were receiving, as well as the independence they were granted both inside and outside of the operating room. Moreover, the strong sense of friendship and comradery amongst the residents was very clear- a factor in my future training which was very important to me. The combination of the surgical experience, dedicated faculty, and tight-knit resident group all made MCW the clear choice.

What MCW has to offer a Candidate:Complete and well-rounded surgical training first and foremost. Residents receive comprehensive training in all of the orthopaedic sub-specialties, including rotations at the VA. A unique aspect of our program is the elective rotations, which grant us the ability to specifically tailor our surgical training based on our areas of interest. Additionally, all training locations are located within the greater Milwaukee area. You will receive excellent surgical training in this program and graduate with the ability to directly enter practice, while also being highly competitive for fellowships.

What I like about living in Milwaukee: I grew up in the Milwaukee area, and I have frankly never felt the need or desire to leave. Milwaukee provides all the perks of a big city between restaurants, bars, and music festivals, without all of the hassles such as traffic and high cost of living. It is the perfect place for a single young professional as well as someone with a family.
