Why I chose MCW: I chose MCW because of the combination of being at an academic institution with all of the resources for both clinical and research opportunities that that provides. It is also a major trauma 1 hospital that allows me to see most if not all that orthopaedics have to offer both in terms of types of injuries or illness and also all of the different orthopaedic specialties. MCW residents have a great operative experience and graduate with all the skills necessary to be a great surgeon and clinician. When I interviewed the friendship and comradery between residents is very evident and that has remained true now that I am a resident.

What MCW has to offer a candidate: Similar to the above, MCW offers a great operative experience. There is an abundance of hands on learning and teaching that prepares you to be a great surgeon. It also offers experience in every orthopaedic sub-specialty. There isn’t really anything that you would see in practice that you haven’t already seen during residency.

What I like about living in Milwaukee: I enjoy that it offers everything you could want in a big city. There are multiple professional sports teams, great indoor and outdoor activities such as shows, concerts, hiking, etc. It is easy to get around. The city is very accessible and everything is close by.
