Dr. Malika Siker Appointed Associate Dean of Student Diversity and Inclusion
Malika Siker, MD, has been appointed associate dean of student diversity and inclusion within the Office of Academic Affairs. The associate dean of student diversity and inclusion oversees efforts in student pipeline development, supports diversity and inclusion issues with students on campus, and assists the admissions team in identifying and recruiting talented students to MCW.
Dr. Siker has been on the MCW faculty for eight years and currently serves as associate professor in the department of radiation oncology. Within radiation oncology, she has held national leadership positions focused on workforce diversity through pipeline programs and developing educational opportunities aimed at improving health equity. At the MCW Cancer Center, she is the incoming faculty co-chair of the Community Advisory Board, which engages the community in partnerships to address local health disparities.
At MCW, she has served in several leadership positions in partnership with the Office of Diversity & Inclusion, including the Diversity and Inclusion Action Committee (DIAC) and the Recruitment and Retention Mission Engagement Group. She also serves as a mentor for pre-medical minority students through MCW pipeline programs such as AIM, StEP-UP, and other student and community organizations. She is a faculty member of the Kern Institute, developing innovative initiatives to increase diversity and inclusion in medicine and improve cultural humility.
Dr. Siker is an active leader in several Milwaukee community organizations and continues to be an advocate for diversity and inclusion at MCW. Her extensive background and commitment to the inclusion of students in the classroom and community will serve MCW well. She will begin her role on June 1.
