Meet Our Innovators
Our researchers are working hard every day to bring "Patents to Patients." Meet a few of our investigators who have made discoveries that truly make a difference and impact human health.
Dr. Imig and Kidney Disease Treatment
Dr. John Imig, Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, talks about a drug candidate that has promise in the treatment of kidney disease. Acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease constitute enormous unmet needs. In addition, many drugs, including immunosuppressants given to patients after organ transplants, lead to kidney damage.
Dr. LaViolette and Groundbreaking Cancer Detection Technology
Dr. Peter S. LaViolette, Assistant Professor of Radiology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, is creating technology that combines machine learning with MRI to detect cancer. Less painful, more effective cancer treatment gets closer each day.
Dr. Barbieri and a Drug Delivery System
Dr. Joseph Barbieri, Professor of Microbiology & Immunology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, turned a bacterial toxin into a drug delivery system that could one day help patients.
Drs. Getschman and Volkman and New Psoriasis Technology
On the heels of a publication in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Dr. Volkman and Dr. Getschman describe the potential for their patented technology to treat psoriasis and other inflammatory disorders.
