In broad terms, I am interested in cancer research. Dysregulation or mutation of Enzymes involved in Nucleotide Excision Repair (NER), in particular, is something I am interested in. During my time in college, I worked with Asteroid protein which consists of an XPG domain (an endonuclease). Mutation of Asteroid is associated with colorectal cancer in humans. I suspect that other protein domains involved in NER are responsible for various cancer. Understanding the dysregulation of these enzymes can shed light on the etiology of some cancer.
