Research Interests

My research interests focus on improving visual outcomes for children that need ocular surgery. Children that need eye surgery inside the eye, such as cataract surgery, are more difficult to treat than adults because of the high incidence of complications due to an exaggerated postoperative immune response. My research seeks to define how aging alters the ocular immune environment in both humans and a rabbit animal model, and examine the mechanism of action of potential pharmacotherapies for prevention and treatment of inflammation and fibrin formation following intraocular surgery.
