Biography
Hi, I’m Katie! I grew up in Chilton, WI, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - La Crosse in 2018 with a degree in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Psychology. During undergrad, I was a research assistant, president of the campus’ Biology Club, and spent many hours shadowing the genetic counselors and medical geneticist within the Gundersen Health System.
After graduating, I was a laboratory genetic counseling assistant with Prevention Genetics for two years before transitioning to a genetic testing coordinator. Central Wisconsin offers many volunteer and advocacy opportunities and I was welcomed through multiple agencies. My most influential experiences came from being a Special Olympics assistant coach, SANE advocate, a friendly visitor for hospice patients, and bereavement support people that recently lost loved ones.
In my free time, I enjoy being outdoors, listening to live music, traveling, and crafting. I’m incredibly honored and excited to be a part of the inaugural GC class at MCW!
