Biography

Hello! My name is Sarah and I grew up in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater with a BS in Biology in 2017. As an undergraduate, I was a part of multiple research labs including investigating genetics among plants within the Nymphoides genus and the identification of histone modifications associated with gene silencing in apoptotic mammalian cells. I volunteered as a patient advocate with Aurora Healing and Advocacy Services for victims of sexual assault for the last 5 years in Milwaukee. After graduating, I worked as an education program coordinator for the Medical College of Wisconsin’s School of Pharmacy coordinating various labs and teaching pharmaceutical preparation techniques. For the last year, I have worked as a Genetic Counseling Assistant (GCA) at the Medical College of Wisconsin in the pediatric genetics clinic. As a GCA, I have been able to observe appointments and take part in the genetic counseling process from intake to coordinating genetic testing for patients and families. I am exhilarated to be a part of the inaugural class at the Medical College of Wisconsin and a future genetic counselor!
