Biography

Hello! My Name is Siomara and I am from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. In May 2021, I will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences. When I was a junior in high school, I had the opportunity to be part of the Apprenticeship in Medicine (AIM) Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin. That experience helped solidify my interest in pursuing a career in health care. Around the same time, I remarkably found joy working with Punnett squares which turned into my passion to pursue an education in Genetics. I enjoy volunteering at my church and with Advocate Aurora St. Luke’s as a patient transport, patient registration and clinic assistance in various outpatient areas. I currently work part time for ACL Labs as a Phlebotomist performing venipuncture and obtaining specimens from patients.

One of my favorite things to do is to travel and be around family and friends. I am extremely honored to be a part of the inaugural class of the Genetic Counseling Master of Science Program at the Medical College of Wisconsin, as it allows me to be very close to my family and friends and remain connected with the community I cannot wait to serve and give back to.
