Ophthalmology hosts Bench to Bedside event for students at all three campuses
Learning objectives for the course include discussing and performing the key steps of a comprehensive eye exam, discussing the possible risk of using various ophthalmic drops, and discussing common nomenclature used to record the eye exam and identify and how to extract important information from a sample note.
Two sessions were held at the Eye Institute as well as at the Green Bay and Central Wisconsin campuses. Each session began with a lecture by the Department of Ophthalmology & Visual Sciences Director of Medical Student Education, Dr. Alexander Khammar, which was live streamed to students at regional campuses. Following the lecture, students broke out into small groups for hand-on learning sessions with faculty, residents, fellows and one community physician. Students at the regional campuses received hands-on instruction at local ophthalmology offices who have partnered with MCW.
