Blast From the Past: Understanding Ancient Mind-Body Causes of Depression to Optimize 21st Century Treatment

Objectives:

  1. Describe evolutionary forces that have contributed to the development of depression in humans
  2. Learn how evolutionary mismatch has disengaged modern populations from species-typical evolved well-being signals relevant to depression
  3. Understand how whole-body hyperthermia may produce antidepressant effects by tapping into evolved well-being signals related to the heart and immune system
