Biography
Dr. Barenboim is an assistant professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He received his doctoral training at Saint Louis University and completed his fellowship at the Chicago Center for Family Health. He is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri and Indiana. Hernan believes that training family medicine residents in family systems is fundamental to follow a real patient-centered philosophy of clinical work. For this reason, he frequently teaches subjects like family interviewing, relational trauma, conflict resolution, etc. Dr. Barenboim is a SAMHSA and AAMFT minority fellow, ARISE fellow and serves as member of the planning forum for Behavioral Science in Family Medicine. He enjoys spending time with his wife Cristina, cooking and playing chess.
