Winner of the MCW Postdoctoral Fellow Paper of the Year Award

Punashi Dutta, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pediatrics, was selected as the winner of the MCW Postdoctoral Fellow Paper of the Year Award for the paper entitled, “KPT-330 Prevents Aortic Valve Calcification via a Novel C/EBPβ Signaling Pathway.” The paper was published in the journal Circulation Research under the mentorship of Joy Lincoln, PhD.

Honorable mentions were awarded to:

  • Lana Mucalo, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Pediatrics, for the paper, “Comorbidities are risk factors for hospitalization and serious COVID-19 illness in children and adults with sickle cell disease” published in Blood Advances under the mentorship of Amanda Brandow, DO, MS
  • Barbara Palkovic, MD, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Anesthesiology, for the paper, “Dose-dependent respiratory depression by remifentanil in the rabbit parabrachial nucleus/ Kölliker-Fuse complex and pre-Bötzinger complex” published in Anesthesiology under the mentorship of Astrid Stucke, MD
  • Satoshi Shimada, PhD postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Physiology, for the paper, “Renal Perfusion Pressure Determines Infiltration of Leukocytes in the Kidney of Rats with Angiotensin II-Induced Hypertension” published in Hypertension under the mentorship of Allen W. Cowley, Jr., PhD
  • Jennifer Stancill, PhD, postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Biochemistry, for the paper “Single -cell RNA sequencing of mouse islets exposed to proinflammatory cytokines” published in Life Science Alliance under the mentorship of John A Corbett, PhD.
