Confronting Violence: Improving Women's Lives

View the National Library of Medicine’s traveling exhibit, Confronting Violence: Improving Women’s Lives now until January 4, 2019.

Confronting Violence: Improving Women’s Lives is a traveling exhibition on loan from the National Library of Medicine. The exhibit explores the developments during latter half of the 20th century, when nurses took up the call. Beginning in the late 1970s, nurses were in the vanguard as they pushed the larger medical community to identify victims, adequately respond to their needs, and work towards the prevention of domestic violence.

This exhibit explores images, manuscripts and records that tell the stories of the nurses who witnessed the effects of domestic violence and campaigned for change.

On December 20, 2018 from 8:30 am-9:30 am, join MCW Libraries for an informal presentation and discussion with Angela Mancuso, Executive Director at The Women’s Center about current issues surrounding domestic violence within the greater Milwaukee community. A light breakfast will be provided. Advanced registration is encouraged as space is limited.
