Dr. Merle Orr receives Black Excellence Award
Merle R. Orr, MD, assistant professor of physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Wisconsin, was selected by The Milwaukee Times to receive the 2018 Black Excellence Award in the Health category. Awards were presented during the Black Excellence Award ceremony on Feb. 23 at the Italian Community Center.
The Black Excellence Awards recognize ground-breaking African Americans from across the area who are serving communities, inspiring peers and transforming lives.
Dr. Orr, who practices at Froedtert Hospital, specializes in adult spina bifida, spasticity and spinal cord injury. He received his MD from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond and completed a fellowship in spinal cord injury at the Hunter Holmes MacGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond.
