Global Health: The Effects of Climate Change on Health

In the Dec. 17 issue of Kern Institute's Transformational Times, Dr. Caitlin Rublee discusses health-related effects of climate change. She states that, in 2020, 30.7 million were internally displaced by disasters. Low-income countries contribute the least to the problem, but are the most likely to be affected.

Health workers and journals are calling for action. More than 45 million health workers have signed the #HealthyClimate Prescription. Over 230 medical journals have placed a call for action to address climate change. Closer to home in Milwaukee, a newly formed chapter of Medical Students for a Sustainable Future has begun advocating for curriculum changes on how students are taught the connection between health and climate change.
