Medical College of Wisconsin Offers Master of Science in Global Health Equity
Milwaukee, Aug. 12, 2020 – As the COVID-19 pandemic rages across the world, the world is in need of global health leaders who will work toward global health equity. In fall 2019, the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) announced its new, highly interactive Master of Science in Global Health Equity program. This program is designed to prepare students to become global health leaders who learn by engaging with diverse local and global population.
Students participating in this program learn from faculty with extensive and diverse global health experience. They gain hands-on experience to put their knowledge into practice. Since this program is individualized, students gain experience tailored to their specific global health interests.
“Global health addresses the health needs and human rights of populations around the world and aims to improve the ability of the global workforce to meet the needs of underserved populations,” said Laura Cassidy, PhD, program director. “To accomplish this, high quality health professionals are needed who can operate in diverse, and sometimes geographically dispersed, cultures. Educating current and future healthcare and research professionals with intercultural awareness is therefore essential for expanding service to increasingly diverse patient populations.”
