Black History Month video vignette – Drs. Malmsten, Walker and Flanary

Feb. 15, 2012 College News - In honor of Black History Month, the Medical College of Wisconsin has created a series of video vignettes and stories that will be posted on InfoScope during the month of February. The vignettes highlight a number of our African-American and black faculty, staff and students, their experiences at MCW and the contributions they have made.

In today’s video, Catherine Malmsten, MD, Assistant Professor of Medicine (Cardiology); Alonzo P. Walker, MD, Senior Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs and Diversity and Ruth Teske Professor in Surgical Oncology; and Valerie Flanary, MD, Associate Professor of Otolaryngology and Communication Sciences, discuss the importance of recruiting people from under-represented populations to work at MCW and represent us in the community, and the positive impact this has on the diversity of patients we see.

All of the vignettes and stories will be added to the College’s Black History Month 2012 Web page as they are published.
