EM-1

EM-1

The EM-1 year focuses on acquiring the knowledge and essential technical skills which will provide the foundation for Emergency Medicine. Three weeks of vacation are included.

  • Orientation (1 month)
  • Adult Emergency Medicine (3 months)
  • Pediatric Emergency Medicine (1 month)
  • Adult Anesthesia/Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center (2 weeks)
  • Medical ICU (8 weeks)
  • Pediatric ICU (4 weeks)
  • Trauma Surgery (1 month)
  • Neurosurgical ICU (1 month)
  • Dental Surgery (2 weeks)
  • Emergency Medicine/Ultrasound (1 month)
  • OB/GYN (4 weeks)
EM-2

EM-2

The EM-2 year focuses on managing multiple and critically ill patients in the Emergency Department. The EM-2 performs all trauma airways and provides radio control for all acute care resuscitations in the Milwaukee County EMS system. Three weeks of vacation plus one week of conference attendance (SAEM) are included.

  • Emergency Medicine Combined (Froedtert Hospital, VA Medical Center, Children's Wisconsin) (8 months)
  • Community Emergency Medicine (Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital) (1 month)
  • Toxicology (1 month)
  • Surgical ICU (1 month)
  • Pediatric Anesthesia (2 weeks)
  • Medical Intensive Care Unit (1 month)

EM-3

During the EM-3 year, residents will continue to expand their clinical experience, captaining traumas and supervising medical students and rotating interns. Three weeks of vacation plus one week of conference (AAEM) are included.
