MCW is internationally known for its cutting edge research programs. In FY-2012-13, College faculty received more than $160 million in grant awards for research, training, teaching and related purposes. More than 144 million was for research, including funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). There are over 2,100 research studies, including clinical trials on the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center campus.
