About the Human and Molecular Genetics Center
 

The Human and Molecular Genetics Center (HMGC) was formed October 1, 1999, when Dr. Howard Jacob was named Director. The Center began operations in May, 2000. It is charged with developing the critical infrastructure required to position the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) as a leader in biomedical research. Read more...

Wisconsin Center of Excellence in Genomics Science awarded to MCW

July 24, 2009 College News - Scientists from The Medical College of Wisconsin, Sangamo Biosciences, Inc., Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, Open Monoclonal Technology, Inc. and INSERM announced the creation of the first genetically modified mammals developed using zinc finger nuclease (ZFN) technology.   (read more....)

As the Human and Molecular Genetics Center (HMGC) enters its 9th year, we continue to grow in an increasingly challenging funding and economic environment. Our collaborations within and beyond the center continue to grow as well. The faculty now numbers 26 across 6 Departments (Cell Biology, Anatomy, and Neuroscience; Dermatology, Medicine, Pediatrics, Physiology and Surgery), more...  

 

Mission Statement

Enable researchers and clinicians at MCW to use the genomic sequence to understand disease, improve diagnosis and ultimately improve treatment of our patients in our affiliated hospitals.
