Welcome to the Division of Hematology and Oncology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Our talented faculty and staff combine humane, patient-centered care with the academic pursuit of better cancer therapies giving new hope to patients and families. The Division provides expertise in all aspects of medical oncology including treatment of solid tumors, hematologic (blood) cancers and bone marrow transplantation. We also provide exceptional care for non-cancerous blood diseases, including bleeding and clotting disorders. Finally, our Palliative Care Service provides expert consultation in quality of life issues for all patients facing serious illness as well as end of life care. July 18 – Melinda Stolley, PhD, associate director of Cancer Prevention and Control at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center completed a study, Moving Forward, with 250 African American breast cancer survivors, successfully implementing an intervention to help these women make and maintain positive changes in weight, eating habits, physical activity and social support networks.
Jan. 31 - A widely-used Chinese herbal formula, Antitumor B, will be evaluated as a potent cancer preventive agent for squamous cell carcinomas (SCC), the most common malignancies of the oral cavity. Ming You, MD, PhD, and director of the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) Cancer Center, and Stuart Wong, MD, a nationally-recognized physician and researcher specializing in head and neck cancers at the Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin Clinical Cancer Center received a $2.6M multi-investigator grant from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) to perform the study.
Aug. 31 - In a paper published in the June 2016 issue of Modern Pathology, Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) researchers were able to provide a first-of-its-kind validation of technologies used to measure tumor markers in cancer pathology.
