The Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW) understands that everyone has different needs when it comes to benefits, which is why we offer a range of comprehensive, affordable plans that you can customize for you and your family. Your benefits may differ slightly based on full-time or part-time status, as well as position level.

Vision

General eye care, including an annual vision exam, is one of the most important things you can do to stay healthy and productive.

Health Care Flexible Spending

  • Pre-tax savings account used for unreimbursed medical, prescription, dental, vision and other health expenses

Your contributions are not subject to payroll taxes, which can result in substantial tax savings for you.

Dependent Day Care Flexible Spending

  • Pre-tax savings account used for elder care and child care expenses

  • MCW provides a contribution in addition to the employee’s contribution

If you have elder care or child care expenses, this is an excellent way to make your dollars go further by putting aside pre-tax dollars.

Basic Life

  • Provided at no cost to eligible employees

  • Faculty, staff physicians and exempt staff receive 1x salary up to a maximum of $100,000

  • Non-exempt staff receive 1x salary up to $50,000

  • Travel Assistance coverage included

Free life and AD&D insurance coverage from MCW helps ensure that your dependents will receive compensation in the event of your unexpected death or dismemberment.

Voluntary Life

  • Employees: 1x to 8x salary, up to a maximum of $1,000,000

  • Spouses: $5,000 increments; subject to a maximum of 3.5x the employee’s Basic Annual Earnings (up to maximum of $150,000)

  • Child(ren): $10,000 for each eligible child

You have the ability to provide additional financial protection for your family in the event of your death.

Disability

  • Amount you receive is based on your employee class and the amount you earned before your disability began

Payments help protect you from loss of pay as a result of a personal, continuous medical disability.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

  • Confidential counseling and assessment program designed to help manage personal work and life challenges

  • Provides no-cost, confidential, 24-hour assistance via toll-free number and website and up to six in-person sessions per presenting problem

Designed to help you manage a wide range of work/life problems and maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Mandatory 403(b)

  • Generous employer match

  • Eligible employees are automatically enrolled after two years and 100% vested

The sooner you begin saving a nest egg for retirement, the longer it has to grow and the better off you will be during your retirement years.

Voluntary 403(b)

  • You may contribute pre-tax funds to the 403(b) voluntary account at any time, subject to IRS limits

You have the ability to save more for retirement on a pre-tax basis and build a stronger future.

Vacation

  • Determined by your length of service and employee class

MCW offers paid time off as an important way for you to refresh and recharge.

Holiday

  • Eligible employees will be paid for eight MCW-recognized holidays

Your holidays are New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Sick

  • May be used by employees for illness and the care of the employee’s immediate family member
