Since July 2011, I and other Medical College leaders have met with local government officials and leaders of 13 health care systems statewide to explore potential new collaborations, to learn of innovative practices that have been implemented statewide and to discuss the possibility of expanding medical school education as a potential solution to the statewide shortage of physicians.
