About Us

Message from the Director

Gustavo Leone, PhDAs a cancer researcher and director of the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center, there has never been a more exciting or ambitious time to advance scientific medical discoveries. Across our campus, advancements in cancer research are rapidly leading to extraordinary breakthroughs in the prevention, detection, and treatment of cancer—breakthroughs with the potential to decrease the cancer burden and address the disparities that exist in Wisconsin and beyond.

I know firsthand the impact a cancer diagnosis brings to the lives of patients and their families. Having lost family and friends to cancer, I have dedicated my life to solving this devastating disease. This dedication includes a relentless focus on areas of research where we are seeing the greatest impact: immuno-oncology, precision oncology, structural biology, cancer disparities, cancer metabolism, and survivorship.

At the Cancer Center, I am privileged to lead an outstanding team of scientists and clinicians whose curiosity and determination to find cures are unwavering. The collective commitment with our institution and community, backed by a strong strategic plan, will help us solve the greatest health challenge of our time—and eradicate cancer for good.

I invite you to join us as we look toward a future without cancer.
