Biography

I am currently a graduate student working under the tutelage of Dr. Shyam S Chaurasia. I hold a BSc in Biological Sciences from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore and a Diploma in Optometry from Singapore Polytechnic. During my undergraduate years, I had the privilege of working on novel anti-staphylococcal ectolysins under Associate Professor Rajamani Lakshminarayanan and Associate Professor Navin Kumar Verma. After which, I joined Dr. Raymond P. Najjar in the Singapore Eye Research Institute, where I was hired as a Research Officer to explore novel light-therapeutics for the treatment of myopia.

Research Interests

My research interests lie in the field of ophthalmology and exploring new therapeutic ways to treat sight-threatening diseases. Small leucine rich proteoglycans (SLRPs) are important structural proteins of the extracellular matrix and are involved in multiple ligand-induced signaling pathways. My current research focuses on characterizing the roles these SLRPs in the retina, with particular interest in Decorin.
