Biography

John Charlson, MD, is Associate Professor of Medicine at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Division of Hematology and Oncology, specializing in sarcoma, breast cancer and solid malignancies. He graduated from the University of Iowa, College of Medicine in 1999, and then completed an internal medicine residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin Affiliated hospitals, serving as chief resident. He completed his fellowship in oncology in 2007, and is board certified in medical oncology. Dr. Charlson is the MCW PI for several breast cancer and sarcoma clinical trials.

Research Interests

Dr. Charlson’s clinical focus is on the care of patients with sarcoma and breast cancer. Additionally, his time is spent on quality improvement efforts within the Cancer Center and as an investigator on a number of chemotherapy clinical trials. His research interests are health services research and outcomes of patients treated for breast cancer and sarcoma.
