Research Interests

Dr. Levas’ research is focused on understanding the impact that violence has on the health and well-being of our vulnerable youth. His training in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and many years of clinical practice includes high volume experience in childhood injury, violence, and a deep understanding of the social determinants that lead to health care disparities in our youth.  In addition, in partnership with community-based programs dedicated to violent injury intervention in youth, Dr. Levas has begun to integrate his research and advocacy interests into developing best-practices for improving the lives of youth victims of violence.  He has been involved in multiple research collaborations examining at-risk populations, health care disparities, and ways to improve diversity and equality in the Pediatric Emergency Department (PED).

Dr. Levas’ research focus continues to be understanding the impact of clinical, social, and community based interventions and programs directed at diverse and disparate youth populations.
