Biography

Dr. Rizzo is an attending physician in the MCW adult HCT unit, with clinical interests in hematologic malignancies and late effects of HCT. He completed a fellowship in hematology/oncology and a Robert Wood Johnson fellowship in epidemiology and cost-effectiveness research at Johns Hopkins University and holds an MS degree in epidemiology from MCW. He has taken a leadership role in several American Society of Hematology initiatives and participated in several committees. He is also an active member of the American Society for Blood and Marrow Transplant Quality Outcomes, Standardization of Outcomes, and Evidence Based Review Steering Committees.

Research Interests

Dr. J. Douglas Rizzo has ten years of experience with the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR) at the Medical College of Wisconsin, an internationally recognized research organization. In his role as CIBMTR Senior Scientific Director and CIBMTR program leader for observational research, he has had primary responsibility for data operations and management staff oversight. He is responsible for implementation of the Stem Cell Therapeutics Outcomes Database at the CIBMTR, part of the national C.W. Bill Young Cell Transplantation Program. His research interests include late effects and quality of life after Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation (HCT), access to HCT across gender and ethnic/racial groups and other health policy issues.
