Biography

Hello! My name is Ryan Condon. I grew up in Glen Ellyn, IL and graduated from Northwestern University in 2019 with a degree in Secondary Education and a concentration in Biology. During my time in undergrad, I served as a volunteer co-coordinator for Kesem at Northwestern, which seeks to provide free, year-round programming (including a week of sleep away summer camp!) for children impacted by a parent’s cancer. I also conducted an independent research project seeking to understand the family experience within pediatric palliative care settings.

After graduating, I worked as a high school Chemistry teacher within Chicago Public Schools for two years and served on my school's leadership committee for fostering equity in student assessment across all subjects and grade levels. After teaching, I worked as a research specialist in the Lasek Lab at the University of Illinois in Chicago, which studied the epigenetic underpinnings of alcohol abuse disorders and withdrawal within the brain using a mouse model.

I am both honored and overjoyed to be a part of the second cohort of the Genetic Counseling MS program at MCW. The program’s commitment to both equity and collaborative innovation will no doubt create a learning environment of diverse richness, perfect for instilling the skills and knowledge required to be able to practice as a culturally responsive, compassionate, and ambitious genetic counselor.
