“I believe in the benefit of hands-on learning, which is why I am an advocate for utilization of the simulation lab. The simulation lab creates a realistic environment with all of the tools necessary for a student to deliver safe and effective anesthesia, while also providing an environment that is safe for mistakes. By creating a realistic patient care scenario, and allowing mistakes to sometimes be made, students learn in real-time the physiology of various disease states and how that affects anesthetic management. They feel safe to explore the new knowledge they’ve been given, and they learn how to remain calm under pressure.”
