3rd Annual Lac Du Flambeau Cultural Event

Spend July 28 - 30 with the Lac Du Flambeau Ojibwe Community In partnership with the Waaswaganing Indigenous Institute Teaching Learning, Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council (GLNARCH), and the Institute for Health and Humanity, we invite the MCW community to a professional development workshop July 28-30, 2025 in Lac du Flambeau, Wisconsin at the Lakes of Torches Casino Convention Center. This workshop is with the Ojibwe Communities Family Circles Training will also include a visit to GLNARCH, an outdoor evening Indian Bowl (teaching of singing and dancing), and a session on Honoring Mother Earth: sustainability, health and environment indigenous connection to the earth and the importance of living in balance with the environment led by tribal Elders. The agenda is outlined in the workshop’s flyer attached and the objectives are to: gain knowledge about Family Circles as an evidence-based practice learn about Tribes of Wisconsin and sovereignty, substance use and misuse prevention, harm reduction, and Naloxone administration and resources gain skills facilitating Circles, using a Tribal worldview, related to substance use and misuse prevention, harm reduction, and Naloxone administration in Tribal communities This is an excellent opportunity to engage with our tribal partners to take a step toward establishing respectful and trusting relationships and learning indigenous ways. The training will provide experiences and information that will assist the participant with techniques to understand Indian country deeper. It will stress the importance of Ojibwe history, culture, traditions and language and paths towards healing. It will also have a focus on sustainability, health and environment indigenous connection to the earth and the importance of living in balance with the environment.
