NRC Fall Seminar
Interactions Between Neurons and Glia in Neurodegeneration: Insights from Human Stem Cell Models Across Eye and Brain Disorders
Presenter:
Jason Meyer, PhD
In his presentation, Dr. Meyer will examine how neurons and glial cells normally communicate to maintain brain health and what happens when this delicate balance is disrupted, contributing to devastating conditions such as glaucoma and Alzheimer’s disease. Dr. Meyer's talk will showcase how cutting-edge stem-cell models are opening entirely new avenues for understanding disease mechanisms and developing therapies. Dr. Meyer is the A. Donald Merritt Professor of Medical & Molecular Genetics at Indiana University School of Medicine. He earned his BA from Colgate University and his PhD from the University of Missouri, followed by postdoctoral training at the University of Wisconsin.
