CAI Awards PCAP Funds for New Project on Decompensated Heart Failure
CAI awards another project with Patient-Oriented Cardiovascular Academic Projects (PCAP) Funds for Dr. Leo Gozdecki, Cardiology Fellow with Dr. Nunzio Gaglianello, Department of Medicine; project entitled “Prognostic Significance of Jugular Venous Diameter Ratio in Inpatients with Decompensated Heart Failure.” The study aims to expand the literature on techniques to better identify HF patients who are at highest risk for repeated hospitalizations and death.
The data for this observational study will be the cornerstone for a future prospective trial assessing JVD ratio as a therapeutic target for diuresis. The goal of this project is to provide the cardiovascular community with an improved, yet simple, diagnostic tool and a better understanding of how to care for decompensated heart failure patients.
